These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Norfolk Local, an online local directory and events platform operated by Anglia Computer Solutions ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using Norfolk Local you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

1. About Norfolk Local

Norfolk Local is an independent online directory providing information about local businesses, venues and events across Norfolk, United Kingdom. Listing information is provided by business owners, members of the public and our editorial team. We do not represent, endorse or guarantee any business or service listed on the site.

2. Your account

To submit listings, events, reviews or comments, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current and complete information at registration.
  • Keep your password secure and not share it with any third party.
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account.
  • Be at least 18 years of age (or the age of digital consent in your country if higher).

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are being used fraudulently or in bad faith.

3. Business listings

If you submit a business listing, you confirm that:

  • You are the owner or an authorised representative of the business.
  • All information provided is accurate, complete and not misleading.
  • Any images or other content you submit are either owned by you or you have the right to use them, and they do not infringe any third-party rights.
  • You will keep your listing information up to date.

We reserve the right to edit, decline to publish or remove any listing at our sole discretion, including where it is inaccurate, incomplete, offensive or in breach of these Terms or applicable law. All submissions are subject to review before publication.

Norfolk Local does not guarantee that listings will be found via search engines or that a listing will remain on the site indefinitely.

4. Events

If you submit an event, you confirm that:

  • The event information is accurate and not misleading.
  • You are authorised to promote the event.
  • The event complies with all applicable laws and regulations.

We reserve the right to edit, decline to publish or remove any event at our discretion. Events are subject to moderation before appearing on the site.

5. Reviews and comments

Registered users may post reviews of businesses and comments on articles. By posting user-generated content, you:

  • Grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, moderate and reproduce your content on Norfolk Local.
  • Confirm the content is your own honest opinion, based on a genuine experience.
  • Agree not to post content that is false, misleading, defamatory, offensive, harassing, discriminatory, unlawful, spam or otherwise objectionable.
  • Accept that reviews and comments, once posted, cannot be edited by you.

We may remove, hide or refuse any user-generated content at our sole discretion and without notice. Users may report content they believe violates these Terms; we will investigate and take appropriate action. We do not guarantee removal of reported content.

We are not responsible for the content of user reviews or comments. Any views expressed are those of the individual user and do not represent our views.

6. Advertising

Advertisers who purchase display space on Norfolk Local agree that:

  • All advertising materials comply with the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising (CAP Code) and all applicable laws.
  • Advertisements are not misleading, harmful or offensive.
  • You own or have the right to use any images, trademarks or other intellectual property included in your advertisement.

All advertisements are subject to approval before going live. We reserve the right to reject or withdraw any advertisement at our discretion without refund where material breaches these Terms. Impression and click data is tracked for performance reporting purposes only.

7. News tips

If you submit a news tip via our public form, you agree that we may use and publish the information you provide at our discretion, with or without attribution. Submitting a tip does not guarantee publication. Do not submit confidential, privileged or commercially sensitive information unless you are authorised to do so.

8. Intellectual property

All content on Norfolk Local that is created or curated by us — including text, design, graphics, logos and software — is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by UK and international copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute or commercially exploit any of our content without our prior written consent.

You retain ownership of any content you submit. By submitting content, you grant us the licence described in these Terms.

9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Norfolk Local is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, representations or conditions of any kind. In particular:

  • We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness or reliability of any listing, event, review or other content on the site. Users should independently verify information before relying on it.
  • We are not responsible for the quality, safety, legality or availability of any product or service listed on Norfolk Local.
  • We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, Norfolk Local or any linked third-party website.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or any other matter that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.

Where we are liable to you, our liability will not exceed £100 or the amount you paid to us in the preceding 12 months, whichever is greater.

Norfolk Local may contain links to third-party websites. These links are provided for convenience only and do not constitute our endorsement of those sites. We have no control over their content and accept no responsibility for them.

11. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Norfolk Local available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the service at any time and without notice. We may also update these Terms at any time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent version. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Prohibited use

You must not use Norfolk Local to:

  • Submit false, fraudulent or misleading listings, events, reviews or news tips.
  • Scrape, harvest or extract data from the site in bulk without our written permission.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its infrastructure.
  • Send unsolicited commercial messages to other users.
  • Circumvent or interfere with any security or authentication measures.

If that is not possible, any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
