Advertising Terms & Conditions

These Advertising Terms & Conditions ("Advertising Terms") govern the purchase and display of paid advertising on Norfolk Local, an online local directory and events platform operated by Anglia Computer Solutions ("we", "us", "our"). They apply in addition to our general Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

These Advertising Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

1. Acceptance

By purchasing advertising on Norfolk Local you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Advertising Terms together with our general Terms & Conditions. If you are purchasing on behalf of a business or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that organisation to these Advertising Terms. If you do not agree, please do not purchase advertising.

2. Advertisement content standards

All advertising material you supply must:

• Comply with the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing (the CAP Code) and all applicable laws and regulations.
• Not be illegal, misleading, deceptive, offensive, defamatory, discriminatory or harmful.
• Not infringe the intellectual property, privacy or other rights of any third party. You confirm that you own, or are licensed to use, all images, trademarks, logos and other content in your advertisement.
• Be clearly identifiable as advertising and not impersonate Norfolk Local or any third party.

We may reject, edit, decline to publish or remove any advertisement at our sole discretion — including, but not limited to, where it breaches these standards, is the subject of a complaint, or in our reasonable opinion is unsuitable for our audience.

3. Approval & payment

When you place an order, your payment card is authorised at checkout but is not charged at that point. Your card is only charged once our team has reviewed and approved your advertisement. No money is taken if your advertisement is not approved.

Card authorisations are held by our payment processor (Stripe) for up to 7 days. If we have not approved your advertisement within that period, the authorisation will expire automatically and no charge will be made; you will be invited to re-authorise payment so that your advertisement can be reviewed again. All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and, where applicable, inclusive of VAT.

4. Placement

Advertising on Norfolk Local is sold on a tier basis. When you purchase a tier, your advertisement is automatically placed by our system within the placement levels included in that tier. We do not sell specific fixed positions.

Specific positions, the number of impressions or clicks, the pages on which your advertisement appears, and the share of available inventory are provided on a best-effort basis and are not guaranteed. Any optional targeting (such as page type or category) narrows where your advertisement may appear but does not guarantee a minimum level of delivery. Impression and click data is recorded for performance-reporting purposes only.

5. Auto-renewal

If you enable auto-renewal for an advertisement, you authorise us to automatically charge your saved payment card at the end of each advertising period for a further period of equal length and at the then-current price, until you cancel. Renewal charges will continue to recur on this basis without further action by you.

We will send you a reminder email before each renewal. You may cancel auto-renewal at any time before the renewal date from your dashboard; cancellation stops future renewals but does not affect the current period, which will run to its scheduled end date. If a renewal payment fails (for example, because your card is declined), the advertisement will end at its expiry date and auto-renewal will be switched off.

6. Refunds

Once an advertisement is live, fees are non-refundable, including where you choose to remove or pause the advertisement before the end of its period. Pre-approval card authorisations that are cancelled or that expire do not result in any charge, so no refund is required in those cases. Nothing in this section affects any rights you may have under applicable consumer law that cannot be excluded.

7. Cancellation & removal

We may remove, suspend or decline any advertisement that breaches these Advertising Terms, our general Terms & Conditions or applicable law, without refund. Where practicable we will let you know the reason, but we are not obliged to do so before taking action. You may stop future auto-renewals at any time as described in section 5.

8. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, representations and conditions relating to advertising delivery, performance or results. We are not liable for any loss of profits, revenue, goodwill or anticipated savings, or for any indirect or consequential loss, arising from your advertising with us.

Nothing in these Advertising Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law. Subject to that, where we are liable to you in connection with advertising, our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid to us for the advertisement giving rise to the claim.

These Advertising Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
