Norfolk Local ("we", "us", "our") is an online local business and events directory for Norfolk, operated by Anglia Computer Solutions. We are committed to protecting your personal data and handling it responsibly. Account registration
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address and password (stored as a secure hash). This is necessary to provide you with access to your account and manage listings, events and other content you submit. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
Business listing and event submissions
If you submit a business listing or event, we collect the information you provide (business name, address, contact details, description, images, website URL, etc.) in order to publish and maintain your listing on the site. Legal basis: performance of a contract / legitimate interests.
Contact forms and enquiries
When you contact us via our contact form or submit a news tip, we collect your name, email address and message content. We use this information only to respond to your enquiry. Legal basis: legitimate interests (responding to requests).
Reviews and comments
If you post a review or comment, the content is associated with your account and displayed publicly alongside your name. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
Newsletter subscriptions
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and maintain a subscription record. We only send marketing emails with your explicit consent. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send. Legal basis: consent.
Advertising
If you purchase advertising space on Norfolk Local, we collect your name, email address, payment information (processed by our payment provider) and advertising creative materials. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
Technical and usage data
When you visit Norfolk Local, we and our analytics providers may collect certain technical information automatically, including your IP address, browser type, pages visited and referring URL. This helps us understand how the site is used and improve our service. We use Google Analytics for this purpose. 5. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with the following categories of recipients:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — servers that host Norfolk Local (UK/EEA based or covered by UK adequacy decisions).
- Email service providers — used to send transactional emails and newsletters. These providers act as processors under data processing agreements.
- Google LLC — Google Analytics (analytics) and Google AdSense (advertising). Google may transfer data to the US; this is covered by Google's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (recognised by the UK). You can opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Payment processors — if you purchase advertising space, payment is processed by a PCI-DSS compliant third party. We do not store card numbers.

Norfolk Local is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data to us, please contact us immediately at privacy@norfolklocal.co.uk and we will delete it.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, destruction or alteration. Passwords are stored as salted cryptographic hashes. All data in transit is protected by TLS (HTTPS).

Norfolk Local may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any personal data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. Material changes will be communicated via an in-site notice or by email where appropriate.
