Learn About Livestock 2027

From Monday 15 March to Friday 19 March 2027, Blickling in Norfolk will host Learn About Livestock 2027. This educational initiative, now in its seventh year, offers 20 schools from across Norfolk the chance to care for a ewe and her lamb(s) over the course of a week. Organised by the Food & Farming Discovery Trust, Rare Breeds Survival Trust, Three Rivers and Chapelfield Farm Vets, and the Royal Norfolk Agriculture Association, this project aims to provide students ranging from Early Years to Sixth Form with hands-on experience in animal husbandry and food and farming education. Each participating school will receive everything needed for a week-long care period, including shelter and food. The schools must have a suitable space—ideally 10ft x 15ft with some grass—for the pen. This project is open to all types of Norfolk schools, ensuring inclusivity for mainstream and SEND settings alike. Over the past six years, it has engaged more than 15,000 students in Norfolk, providing a unique learning experience right on school grounds.
