The past fortnight in Sheringham

Curated by Norfolk Local·9 October 2026

It's been a busy couple of weeks in Sheringham, with plenty happening around our lovely Norfolk seaside town. From updates on local projects and initiatives to news from our community groups and businesses, there's always something new to catch up on - and we're here to bring you the lowdown on what's been making headlines in Sheringham over the past fortnight.

In the Norfolk news

October's been a month of change in our beloved Sheringham. As the summer crowds dissipate and we settle into autumn's chill, it seems that some of our favourite spots are saying goodbye. One such place is Streat Boss Café, which has been serving up award-winning breakfasts and brunches for five years. Owner Rob Grand may be closing the doors to the café itself, but his culinary talents won't be disappearing from view – we can expect to see him popping up in new and exciting ways. But not all news from Sheringham is about endings. There's a new beginning on the horizon with the debut of the Christmas Crooners show at the Little Theatre this December. It'll be a festive treat for locals and visitors alike, and a great excuse to get into the holiday spirit. And if you're looking forward to getting out and about in Sheringham again, there's some welcome news on the RNLI station front: planning documents have been submitted, which could finally see it reopen after years of waiting. And then there's the sad news that TG Jones is shutting its store in Church Street at the start of next year. It's always a blow when a business leaves town, but let's hope that the empty shop will soon be filled with something new and exciting. As for our parking fines, it seems we're not the only ones who've been racking up the penalties – according to recent figures, Cromer and Sheringham accounted for over 40% of all fines issued in North Norfolk car parks last year.

What's on: upcoming events

As we head into the final weeks of autumn, Sheringham is gearing up for a vibrant and varied programme of events. For those looking to soak up the atmosphere of our lovely town, there's no better way than visiting the weekly market, which takes place every Wednesday in the car park on Station Approach. This Saturday, you can also enjoy browsing the stalls at the market's sister event, held on Saturdays in the same location. The arts scene is thriving too, with a range of productions taking to the stage at Sheringham Little Theatre. Highlights include Hi-de-Hi!, a classic comedy that promises to be a laugh-out-loud experience, and The Metropolitan Opera: Macbeth, an operatic retelling of Shakespeare's iconic tale. For something a bit more low-key, why not try Chair Yoga with Emily Moll? This relaxing class is perfect for unwinding after a busy week. As the season draws to a close, Sheringham Little Theatre will be hosting a number of exciting productions, including The Addams Family Junior and The Royal Ballet: Manon. If you're looking for something a bit more thought-provoking, Pressure might be just what you need - this gripping drama promises to keep you on the edge of your seat. Whatever your interests, there's sure to be something to suit in Sheringham over the coming weeks.

As we wrap up another fortnight in beautiful Sheringham, we hope you've enjoyed staying up-to-date with the latest news and events in our lovely Norfolk town.
