The past fortnight in Cromer

Curated by Norfolk Local·29 July 2026

It's been a busy two weeks in Cromer, with plenty to catch up on if you've been out of the loop since our last update. From news that affects local residents and businesses, to events and announcements that are worth getting excited about, we've rounded up all the key stories from around town for your convenience.

In the Norfolk news

The past fortnight has seen a mix of news and accolades for Cromer, reflecting both its challenges and charms. One issue that's been on the council's radar is the safety of a kerb at the junction of Heather Avenue and Cromer Road - a problem that's reportedly costing thousands to investigate. On a more celebratory note, Cromer has been recognised as one of the UK's best seaside towns by The Times, thanks in part to its "plenty of characterful pubs". This comes on the heels of other recent awards for local businesses. Upstairs Downstairs gift shop took home an award for Best Independent Greetings Card Retailer in East Anglia at the 2026 Greeting Card Retailing Award. It's also heartening to see Cromer residents and volunteers recognised for their contributions to the community. Foodbank volunteers, for example, were treated to a special evening of entertainment at Cromer Pier in recognition of their hard work. Meanwhile, one long-serving coastguard has hung up his hat after an impressive 42 years on the frontline - a testament to his dedication and service to the town.

It's been great to recap some of the exciting events that have taken place in and around Cromer over the past fortnight. To find out more about what's happening in our wonderful town, be sure to explore the rest of our Norfolk local blog for a wealth of news, reviews, and features.
